Flygility for
many years has been the exclusive canine sport of New Zealand
where it originated. This innovative dog sport contains
elements from both agility and flyball. It is an exciting, fast
paced sport for dogs who love agility and LOVE to fetch balls.
The sport spread to Australia and is now in the United States.
The dog is sent
over a course of flyball and agility obstacles to fetch a ball
from the flyball box. The dog must trigger the flyball box,
catch the ball and return over the course with the ball to its
handler. The flygility course is 100 feet long from the
start/finish line to the front edge of the flyball box.
There are both
team competitions and individual competitions. Each has
different levels of competition, starting with Beginners. In
the beginning levels, only jumps and tunnels are used and the
course is a straight line. The more advanced levels include the
weave poles with several bends in the course. |

No one else
is doing flygility in your area?!? No problem. FLYGILITY
USA members from all over North America have a way to
compete against each other at their own club or individually
without having to travel!
The
FLYGILITY USA Link Competition allows dogs from different
clubs from all over North America to compete with one
another on a regular basis without meeting together or
attend a tournament.
Flygility
courses are published each month. Each club or individual
may run the monthly course at their own grounds and on a
date during the month that suits the club or individual.
Results are then sent in to FLYGILITY USA at the end of the
month. The previous month results are then included with the
new course each month.
Individual
competition and competition for teams of three dogs is
provided. Unlike regular flygility, dogs compete "against
the clock" with the fastest run winning rather than in a
knockout competition. Also unlike regular flygility, dog
teams of two or four are not included in this competition.
Each team of three dogs or individual competition may have
three runs.
